    Artistic & Programming Manager — Ross Ragland Theater (Klamath Falls, OR)


    About the Role

    The Artistic & Programming Manager (APM) leads the artistic vision and programming of the Ross Ragland Theater, ensuring high-quality productions and meaningful community engagement. This position oversees season planning, production management, artistic partnerships, and fundraising efforts that sustain the theater’s creative mission.


    Working closely with the General Manager (GM), the APM ensures that artistic goals align with operational capacity, financial stability, and the overall mission to enrich the community through the performing arts.


    Key Responsibilities


    Artistic Leadership & Season Planning

    Shape the theater’s artistic direction through the curation of 6–9 annual productions and special events. Define long-term programming goals that reflect diverse voices and inclusive storytelling. Develop and manage the production calendar, review artistic proposals, and align programming with budgetary goals in collaboration with the GM.


    Production Oversight & Technical Direction

    Supervise all phases of production—from concept to final performance—including set, lighting, sound, costume, and design. Lead production meetings, manage technical staff and contractors, and maintain the master event calendar. Ensure projects meet deadlines, budgets, and artistic standards.


    Artist, Contractor & Community Engagement

    Recruit and contract artists, directors, and production teams while fostering a collaborative and inclusive creative environment. Build partnerships with local schools, artists, and community organizations to expand artistic reach and impact.


    Fundraising & Donor Development

    Write and manage grants, cultivate donor relationships, and support fundraising initiatives. Coordinate with the GM and Grant Writer to identify funding opportunities and align them with program budgets and organizational goals.


    Marketing, Public Relations & Advocacy

    Represent the theater’s artistic voice in media and community events. Collaborate with the marketing team to develop promotional content and materials that accurately reflect artistic themes and production quality.


    Board Relations & Strategic Leadership

    Present programming updates and strategic recommendations to the Board of Directors. Participate in long-term planning, mission alignment, and community partnerships in coordination with the GM.


    Budget Oversight Responsibilities


    In partnership with the General Manager, the APM develops, monitors, and reconciles budgets for:


    • Artistic Programming: Artist fees, royalties, licensing, and workshops.
    • Production Costs: Scenic, lighting, sound, costume, and props.
    • Technical Labor: Crew, designers, and consultants.
    • Marketing Support: Artistic content and promotions.
    • Fundraising Events: Artistic direction and creative elements.

    Qualifications


    • Minimum 5+ years of experience in artistic leadership, programming, or theater production.
    • Demonstrated success in fundraising.
    • Strong artistic portfolio and creative development experience.
    • Excellent leadership, project management, and communication skills.
    • Proven ability to collaborate across departments and with diverse communities.
    • Budget management experience strongly preferred.

    General Manager — Ross Ragland Theater (Klamath Falls, OR)


    About the Role


    The General Manager (GM) serves as the Ross Ragland Theater’s chief administrative and operational leader, responsible for the theater’s financial stability, business integrity, and day-to-day functionality. This role provides executive oversight of finances, facilities, human resources, and organizational compliance while partnering closely with the Artistic & Programming Manager (APM) to ensure that artistic and community programs are supported by sound management and sustainable operations.


    The GM is a strategic, hands-on leader who combines financial acumen, operational excellence, and team development to strengthen the theater’s impact and ensure long-term success.


    Key Responsibilities


    Financial & Strategic Leadership:


    Develop and manage budgets; oversee accounting, audits, and compliance; ensure transparency and fiscal health; and identify revenue opportunities across programs and rentals.


    Operational Management:


    Supervise administrative, facilities, and front-of-house functions. Lead venue rentals, contracts, and maintenance projects while ensuring safety, accessibility, and compliance with state and local regulations.


    Human Resources & Team Development:


    Recruit, supervise, and mentor staff; foster a collaborative and inclusive workplace; oversee HR processes and compliance with Oregon labor laws; and support volunteer engagement. Manage maintenance, capital improvements, and vendor services; plan for upgrades that enhance operations, productions, and patron experience. Serve as primary liaison to the Board of Directors; support governance, reporting, and strategic planning; and represent the theater in community and stakeholder relationships.


    Facilities Oversight:

    Qualifications


    • 5+ years of senior management or executive experience, preferably in nonprofit or performing arts organizations.
    • Proven expertise in financial management, operations, and compliance.
    • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
    • Experience with QuickBooks or equivalent accounting software.
    • Familiarity with Oregon nonprofit and employment regulations preferred.
    • Background in community engagement, fundraising, or development a plus.
